When I first start to feed my horse/dog PureFlax, do I feed the recommended allowance or shall I feed more and if so for how long for?

When you start feeding, begin with a little less than the lowest recommended administrative rate, and gradually increase up to the full amount over a few days.

Take a week to increase up to the highest administrative rate e.g. for performance animals. Doing so will allow your horse or dog’s digestive function to adapt efficiently and make the most of the PureFlax Oil.

How much PureFlax should I feed my pets and animals?

Check our section on Feeding PureFlax Flaxseed Oil or the pack label for full feeding instructions.

How long will PureFlax take to get into my pet’s system?

It will be in your pet’s system within a few hours of feeding it, but you might need to wait 2-3 weeks to see the visible effects in the skin and coat.

My horse/dog has stiff joints; will feeding PureFlax help?

PureFlax is the richest source of Omega-3 fatty acids available from a vegetarian source, so it is ideal where extra support is required for joint problems.

Omega-3 fatty acids help to dampen tenderness in the body. More on stiff joints in Animals.

My horse is prone to laminitis; will PureFlax help and is it safe to feed? If so, what quantity should I feed?

Yes, PureFlax will help and it is perfectly safe to feed.

The Omega-3 fatty acids it contains have a variety of health benefits that will help horses prone to laminitis, including Omega 3 and all its health benefits and blood-vessel supporting properties.

Follow the instructions for feeding rate and feed at the lower administrative rate (for light work), unless horse is prone to laminitis and is underweight and in that case feed at the higher (improved condition) administrative rate.

I am worried that if I feed PureFlax to my horse it will send him even more fizzy? Is this the case?

Absolutely not; PureFlax will not fizz your horse up at all.

In fact some research has shown that PureFlax has a calming effect when it replaces traditional compound feed.

My horse has stomach problems; will PureFlax aggravate it?

No, providing you feed at the recommended rate and introduce PureFlax over several days (or a week for the higher recommended rate), it will not aggravate the stomach.

If I give PureFlax to my hens, will the Omega-3 be present in the egg?

Yes, it will and your eggs will have a higher level of health-promoting Omega-3 fatty acids. More on Omega-3 oil for hens.

Will PureFlax help with hens molting?

PureFlax will help the hens grow glossy, healthy new feathers.

Can I give PureFlax to my other pets such as my guinea pigs and cat? Will they get the same benefits?

Yes, absolutely! See our section on FlaxSeed Oil for Small Pets

My dog/horse is a competition/performance animal. How much extra should I feed?

Check our section on Feeding PureFlax Flaxseed Oil or the pack label for full feeding instructions.

How long should it take to see a difference in the coat?

The coat should start to alter within a couple of weeks. Regarding the joints this could take up to three months.

Is PureFlax palatable?

Absolutely. They will love it, and lick every last drop!

Have a try yourself and you will see why. PureFlax has got a very nutty taste to it!

What else is added to PureFlax?

Absolutely NOTHING. 100% pure…flax!

Does PureFlax help with sensitive skin?

Yes, it has been proven to help horses with sensitive skin issues.

Why is it called flax oil?

Both Linseed and Flax Oil are extracted from the crop Linseed:

  • Linseed oil is hot pressed, which can kill some of the Omega’s as they are very delicate
  • Flax oil (PureFlax) is cold pressed, hence keeping the Omega’s intact and in balance
Is PureFlax affected by any heat in the extraction process?

No, far from it. The oil has the correct (table of oils) ratio of Omega, 3, 6 and 9 and as it is cold pressed.

Do you know where the PureFlax flaxseed comes from?

Yes, we grow the flaxseed on our farm in Yorkshire, so it is all 100% British grown and produced.

As we press in small batches as it is required, we even know which field each batch comes from!
